The Wolf Suit (2021) is a personal documentary that uses the process of filmmaking, reconstruction and editing as a metaphor for how we remember and construct stories of our lives. Filmmaker Sam Firth reconstructs scenes from her own childhood and her parents' marriage based on her parent's conflicting accounts and her own memories. The film takes us on a into the nature of memory, trauma, and denial by using drama and documentary techniques. Ultimately Sam is forced to confront the ways in which we all hear and construct the stories we want, and the film becomes a vehicle for coming to terms with unwanted aspects of the past. 

Sam Firth is a practicing filmmaker with an interest in both documentary and fiction. She has been making short films since 2009, and has had work screened in art galleries, at film festivals and on BBC iplayer. Many of her shorts have won awards internationally. Her films often explore our relationship with storytelling and the way our experiences are shaped by the narratives we construct, particularly when we record images. In 2022 she was awarded the inaugural BFI Chanel Filmmaker award for her first feature film The Wolf Suit.
