Cultural Program | Film screening Star & Shadow Cinema
Jul 03, 2023 19:00 - 21:00(Europe/London)
20230703T1900 20230703T2100 Europe/London Film Screening of the documentary Cantos insumisos (dir. Alejo Moguillansky, Pampero Cine, 2023), followed by Q&A with the director

Cantos insumisos [Rebel Songs] (2023, dir. Alejo Moguillansky) is an immersion into the multi-layered and polyphonous social and cultural imaginaries of Argentina's last military-civic dictatorship. It offers particular insight into the recent effervescence of feminist imaginaries of violence and dictatorship. Rather than narrate, or impose sense on these imaginary layers, the film offers an expressive capture of these fluid imaginaries through its aesthetic of layers, threads and fragments.

This documentary was made as part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council sponsored project, 'Screening Violence: A Transnational Study of Post-Conflict Imaginaries'.
